Reception Acorns 2023 - 2024
Miss Turner
Welcome to Acorns!
Welcome to Tattenhall Park Primary School. We are very happy to welcome you to our school community. We are very excied to get to know your children and learn lots of new things. We have met lots of new friends and are keen to get to know all of our families.
Curriculum
Please find this term's Curriculum Map attached below. Our topic is 'Ticket to Ride'. We use Tapestry to capture moments in our learning. Observations will be posted on Tapestry so that you can see what we have been up to at school.
Communication
We will use Tapestry to send out any messages regarding important dates, trips etc. I will also send home a weekly newsletter to inform you about our learning from the week and anything you can do at home to support this learning further. The weekly newsletter will be stuck in your child's homework book.
Early Reading
Reception have started Read Write Inc phonics. Miss Turner will be setting up an opportunity to talk more in depth with families about what phonics is and what reading/writing looks like in Reception and how you can support this at home. Date to follow.
We will send the children home with a storybook to share with you. Once the children start to learn letter sounds or can blend sounds together to read words, we will send home books for the children to read to you.
P.E
P.E lessons will be every Thursday. Please send the children into school in their uniforms and they will get changed at school. We will send the children home in their P.E kits. Thursday mornings is my preparation time so the class will be covered by Mrs Edwards, Mrs Mason and Mr Hayes (Sports Coach).
Tapestry Tuesday
Share what you have been getting up to at home. We will use this as way to discuss what we have been getting up to. It is also a great way for the children to explore and celebrate the similarities and differences that we have within the classroom.
